Betty Boop, "The Queen of Cartoons," continues to
delight millions of fans of all ages around the world.
Today, Betty's classic image appears on practically
everything, including cookie jars and other ceramic
pieces, toys, food, apparel and accessories, house
wares, consumer electronics and even lottery tickets.
Ko-Ko the Clown was the first animated character introduced by Max Fleischer, and the star of the
Out of the Inkwell series of cartoons. Ko-Ko was brought to life using the Rotoscope, a device that
Max Fleischer created and patented which allowed
live action films to be traced over by animators to create more life-like animation. Ko-Ko also
appeared with Betty Boop in the 1930s, and in a
series of television cartoons in the 1960s.
Grampy is a loveable inventor who can solve any problem by putting on his thinking cap and coming
up with a creative new invention. He appeared in numerous cartoons with Betty, and remains a fan favorite.
Bimbo was introduced in the 1920s and was one
of the first Fleischer characters to enjoy star status. Betty Boop, who first appeared in the cartoon "Dizzy Dishes," was originally created as a love interest for Bimbo. Betty's first film appearance was brief,
and she looked a little bit like a dog! Still, anyone
who later became familiar with the fully-evolved
Betty Boop would immediately recognize the Betty
of "Dizzy Dishes" as, well, Betty- with her curls, big eyes, tiny pouting mouth and short flapper dress. As Betty became more popular, she became the lady she
is today. Bimbo stayed in Betty's life as a good
friend.
Even as an infant, Betty Boop was a vivacious
bundle of joy, so it's easy to see why she grew
up to be such a legend! Baby Boop captivates
everyone she meets with her distinctive blend
of wide-eyed innocence, sweet disposition and
good heartedness. And it's no wonder — that
face and that personality are irresistible!
Pudgy, Betty's adorable and loyal dog, was
introduced in 1934 in the Betty Boop cartoon
film "Betty Boop's Little Pal," and remained
by Betty's side through the rest her adventures.
